RANSOMED FOR ALL
RANSOMED FOR ALL
One of the biggest misconceptions held by some believers is the fact that they believe that Jesus only died and paid the price for the sin of those who receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.
Nothing is further from that belief. John 3: 16 says “ For God so loved the world…” That term, “world”, means every human that ever existed, past, present and future.
That is hard for many to comprehend. Mankind is inherently evil, possessing the nature to sin.
Romans 3: 20 says, “therefore by the deeds of the law there shall NO flesh be justified in His sight; for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
No one can keep the law that reveals to us what sin is. Romans 3: 23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
All human beings are guilty of sin. According to the law, the penalty for sin is eternal death; the eternal separation of sinners from God. However God, even knowing the sinful state of mankind, the whole world, sent His only Son, Jesus, who voluntarily paid the penalty for the sin of all of humanity.
I Peter 1: 18 – 19 (amplified) “You must know (recognize) that you were redeemed (ransomed) from the useless (fruitless) way of living inherited by tradition from your forefathers, not with corruptible things such as silver and gold, but you were purchased (ransomed) with the precious blood of Christ (the Messiah) like that of a sacrificial lamb without blemish or spot.”
Ransomed (dictionary) The redeeming of a captive by paying money or complying with demands. The price demanded to obtain the release of a captive.
The entire world, guilty of sin, with no hope of ever being able to save itself, was ransomed, redeemed, potentially set free, by the blood of Jesus Christ.
It is hard to believe that every human, despite their sin, was made clean in the eyes of God by the blood of Jesus.
However there is a requirement to receive that forgiveness of sin. John 3: 16 “For God so loved the world (through the ransom paid by the blood of Jesus), that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVETH IN HIM, should not perish but have everlasting life.
How sad that those who we considered the greatest sinners in history never obtained eternal life, by repentance and believing that Jesus died for their sins.
Even though the ransom was paid for every human ever born, there is a condition to receive that pardon. Ephesians 2: 8 – 9 “For by grace are you saved THROUGH FAITH, and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God. Not of works lest any man should boast”
Every person you will ever encounter in your life, even though they appear to be the worst sinner in the world, was ransomed by the blood of Jesus. Their sins have been covered because God loves them.
Sadly they may not receive eternal life because they either reject Jesus as their ransom or they just don’t know they have been set free by the blood of Jesus.
Maybe you are the one God has chosen to inform them of the fact that they have a choice to make. Receive their liberty by receiving Jesus as their savior and Lord or reject Him. We have been given the ministry of reconciliation.
Let us be bold to offer people a freedom they may never have heard of.
