HEALING: THE BELIEVERS BREAD
There is a great story in Matt. 15: 22 – 28. It is the story of a woman, who was a Greek, a Syrophenician, a non-Jew, who fell at Jesus’ feet and asked Him to heal her daughter who had an unclean spirit.
Jesus replied to her request in Mark 7: 27, “but Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread and to cast it unto the dogs.”
We know the end of the story. Jesus healed her daughter because of her insistence which demonstrated her faith in the fact that she believed Jesus could heal her daughter.
We need to look at two words here: children and bread. I love the note I found in the Dakes Bible which addressed these two words and what they meant.
“Jews were the first children of the kingdom. Their bread here refers to the benefits that the Messiah was to bring to them, which included salvation for the body, soul, and spirit. Salvation from sin, sickness, demons and satanic powers. These are family rights, legal rights, promised rights, human rights, Divine rights and redemptive rights of all the children of God.”
The one who receives Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, becomes an adopted child of God. (Gal. 4: 4 – 5).
We also become children of the Kingdom of God. We therefore have inherited the rights and privileges as kingdom heirs, which includes our salvation.
The full meaning of the word, salvation, is deliverance from sin, sickness, disease, demonic and satanic powers. We are truly the children of God with all its rights, privileges, promises and benefits.
Healing is the children’s bread. Since we are the children of the Kingdom of God, that healing bread is available to all who receive it in faith, in Jesus Name.
